New abstract paintings
I have my BFA work in progress review on Wednesday, so I painted a lot over the weekend! Check ‘em out.
My latest ceramic sculpture
I have finished coil building my latest ceramic sculpture. While I was half way through hand building it, I hand carved “wells” into the bottom of the piece. I then hand painted each well and the rest of the lower half of the interior since it would be easier then waiting until after it’s been fired. It came out looking really nice, and I can’t wait to do my designs and stencil work on the outside!
Art Education trip
Yesterday my five other classmates, my professor and our studio technician took a field trip to Baltimore, MD. We went to the American Visionary Art Museum to see the God is Love exhibit. All of the artists were not classically trained but we expressing their views or feelings about God. It was interesting to see people’s interpretations, especially because I am not religious myself.
We had a lot of fun on the ride there and back too. Lots of laughs as usual. Check out the photos below!
Polaroid 420 Camera
On Saturday, Steph, Briana and me went out to shoot photos around South Jersey. I took some good polaroids that I’ll upload later, as well as a few rolls on my 35 mm. We stopped at a yard sale and I got a Polaroid 420 camera for $1! How cool is that? It take 669 film. Can’t wait to try and see if it works properly.
Self portraits
I did these self portraits in the Photography studio with lighting and a self timer on my 35 mm film camera. It was a lot of fun but harder than I thought it would be to come up with poses. Check them out
Abstract painting
I worked on my Abstract Painting today in oils and totally changed my color scheme. I like it a lot better now! I have my critique of it tomorrow morning with Chard and Rosemary so we’ll see what they think.
At the bottom, are photos of Leanna (a fellow Advanced painting student) in our area. We always have a hilarious time painting together.
Ceramic Sculpture
I finally finished hand building my ceramic sculpture! I have to let it dry out slowly since it is a large piece and I don’t want it to crack. Below are some photos of it half way through its completion.
Ceramics Guild - Pottery Sale
On Friday and Saturday, the Ceramics Guild held the Annual Print and Pot Sale in Westby. This was to raise money for the Guild. I created the flyer for the event and also helped set up, sit at the register and take down the pot sale.
