Seriously, I should really update more. I put this thing off worse than I do mass media homework. But, let’s get some updates and a few things out of the way first.

First, and most importantly, a big hello to anyone reading this who I may have met at the open house. You guys were awesome. I hope to see you around campus soon.

Next: The run of Neil Simon’s “Fools” just ended in the lab. I had the pleasure of being in the show and for the little amount of time we had to work on it, we really knocked it out of the park. I don’t think anyone involved expected the reception it got, but every person I’ve talked to really enjoyed it. Here’s some pics I stole from Andrew mail and feeeshmeat and lettersa knockan acution and a marriageteaching and prayerspulse checkKanye

I have a small role in the mainstage production coming up at Rowan. Dr. Liz Hostetter is directing “The Children’s Hour.” It definitely promises to be a good show.

Also, Rowan Day is coming up, which means a contact improvisation jam and a site specific performance by Dance Extensions. Then the spring dance concert, which will feature pieces devised by students in Paule Turner’s choreography class. Very excited to watch and perform in that show.

Finally, my acting II final at the end of the year. Eugene O’Neill’s “Beyond The Horizon.” All the things mentioned are all going to be incredible and I’m real excited for all of them.

Registered for classes today for next year. Directing I, Costuming I, Paule Turner’s Seminar, Music Appreciation, Colloquium III, and History of the Theatre to 1700. Maybe another class but costuming, even though it’s only a 1.5 credit class, is still just as hard and time consuming as a regular class. So we’ll see.

Anyway, more updates to come more frequently from now on I hope. Peace out, yo.

Class updates and pics!

Well my classes are in full force and they are fantastic. I didn’t luck out at all with class times (9:25’s Tues-friday) but the quality of the classes is sweet.

Mass media- Dr Simone is awesome. A required class for theater majors, she lets me ask all the questions I want and we learn crazy stuff like how the mainstream mass media works.

Contact Improv- Leslie Elkins loves contact work and makes the class really get into it. Viewpoints (A technique pioneered by Rowan’s own Lane Savadove) got me first interested in it so when a class opened up to take it I had to.

Elements of dance- Cover all sorts of stuff. It’s the basic intro to pretty much all dance classes and required as well, but it doesn’t just throw you in the deep end.

Voice and Articulation- David Sullivan is a huge believer in the Linkledder technique and we’re working on that and intoduction IPA now.

Acting 2- Lane has us doing a Semester of Eugene O’Neill and we’ll be putting up his plays “Beyond the Horizon” and “Welded” at the end of the semester. This is the first really in depth acting class that has to work on a character all semester. Super Objectives are the topic right now as e learn how to analyze and root to the bottom of all characters in a play.

I took some sweet pics of Rowan when it was really hot out last week before the snow returned. For those of you reading who’ve yet to visit Rowan, make sure you come on a tour. I work as an Admissions Ambassador and gave my first one this 2 weekends ago and it was really fun.

A Long Time Coming

Well well well, Hello there.

As the spring semester starts in just a week, I will no longer put off my responsibilities as an FPA blogger. My fall semester was my 3rd semester at Rowan and I learned so much. Not all of the learning was academic though you see. Some was about myself, about other people, and about the way the world works. A breif summary: (uh uhm)

 • Put my history major on pause…maybe forever…..probably forever
 • Made some awesome friends in the department, and out. But more happy with the ones I made in.
 • Became really close with two foreign exchange theater students who I love to death and miss like crazy.
 • Added a dance minor.
 • Took tap 1 and Dance Composition. Loved every second of it.
 • Was in a mainstage show.
 • Was in a lab show.
 • Got a job on campus
 • Got my first paycheck from my job on campus

It certainly was an eventful year, to say the least. Far and away though, the two show experiences were something I won’t soon forget. Allow me to elaborate….

First off, The Importance of Being Earnest. First I was a butler, then I was two butlers, and I finally was able to relax around the department. Relax around the department???(You might be asking yourself as you read this wondering why it took me a whole year to ‘relax’) I say relax in the sense that I let myself be open more to the people aorund me. My first year I thought I was too cool for soehtings and hadn’t a clue about others and by means of being silly, didn’t really feel like I knew people or that they knew me the way I would have liked. Earnest allowed me o(and forced me to) spend a ton(way too much) time with my castmates and crew. And it was fantastic from start to end. Have a look at some pictures I stole from Andrew of the show:

Lovely stuff indeed. Feel free to click and make them pictures there larger. They look better that way, I promise.

Marisol was the lab show I was in, which proved a task and a half because I was a few rehearsals(a few months) behind schedule having been in Earnest. Being in the lab is so mch different and forces you to adapt a little more to the space around you. At the same time, it really gives you a lot more freedom to make the sapce your own since you’re not being too held back or restricted by large sets. The cast was just as great at the Earnest group and we put together a hell of a show, directed by a former Rowan student. It really was not only alot of fun, but the dimetric opposite show of Earnest, and allowed me to develop more as a performer. Pictures stolen from Kelly’s boyfriend who posted them on FB ( a lot of thm are of me!!:-) There’s so many more so let me know if you wanna see em):

But now, I’m looking forward to heading back, seeing my friends, and getting back into the swing of things. Expect a lot more from this blog too so watch this space. That is all for now.
