On a rainy day in November I grab a cup of coffee and rush back to my next meeting only to be surprised by art. Students from the Department of Art have converted a pre-existing and somewhat cold architectural form, adjacent to Westby Hall (home of the Department of Art), into a youthful and bright work of art. Between Westby and Wilson Hall (home of the Department of Music) lies a stream by which students have piled rocks in what I assume to be another expression of art…or perhaps it was just beavers misbehaving? Whether we’ve been ArtBlitzed or whether these were class assignments, the result is the same: Art is integral to the culture of Rowan University.

You’ll also notice photos illustrating signs of progress as Wilson Hall receives a facelift and the bridge between Westby and Wilson (complete with transgressing pedestrian) is being redesigned. All of these (except the pedestrian, of course) signify the vitality of and commitment to the arts at Rowan University.
